Our Life Skills Programme

A Way of Life!

The Life Skills Programme at DIS consciously equips our students with the skills they need to get through life’s ups and downs with equal ease. The Programme has adopted three skills as its core focus- Thinking Skills, Social Skills and Emotional Skills. Using a wide variety of methods that range from discussions to film screenings and interactive games, the Programme imparts these skills through an experential approach that brings in real-word dilemmas into the classroom, giving our students the extra edge they need to face adversity and fortune with equal grace. Learning to Live has never been more fun!

Our Value Education Programme

A World of Good

The Value Education Programme at DIS stimulates reflection and introspection about issues that have moral and ethical relevance. The Programme encourages students to thoughtfully choose and adhere to a set of values that is appropriate to and best reflects the challenges of their time, rather than preaching values and imposing them on them. The sessions and activities are designed to promote independent moral reasoning and support discussions about moral dilemmas and crisis, from which students can develop an enduring and meaningful set of values. The Programme deals with a wide variety of themes of social significance through creative approaches and activities.

Community Outreach

Community service has been an integral part of the school since its inception and has been one of the foundational principles of the school. The outreach involves leading awareness campaigns, visits to old age homes, orphanages, deaf & mute centers, eco-sustainability drives etc. Our students learn early on, the importance of developing the spirit of giving back to society and reaching out to those less privileged and that are marginalized. Community Outreach activities and projects develop leadership, resilience, empathy and service-mindedness is our students. To this end, our school regularly associates with NGOs, charities, social workers and causes, to provide our students bigger platforms to make a real difference.

Our Sports Education Programme

Fitness First!

At DIS, we believe that sports are an integral part of the educational process and have integrated sports firmly into our curriculum. Our Sports Education Programme (SEP) places emphasis on the development of knowledge, attitudes and skills related to a range of physical and health related activities. The Programme aims to to encourage students to:

The school with its courts and sports infrastructure as well as expert professional coaches support different sports like swimming, basketball, football, volleyball, chess, handball, netball, taekwondo, cricket, table tennis, badminton. Also, the students get opportunities to participate in varied recreational programs that include aerobics, yoga, athletics and exercise.

Personality Development Workshops

Students at DIS are given opportunities to participate in workshops that take place throughout the year, that focus on a wide range of aspects relating to the development of a well-rounded and balanced personality.

From one-of-a-kind workshops on ‘Creative & Critical Thinking’, or even those that relate to grooming and confidence-building, the workshops offer our students exposure to multiple ways of perceiving and navigating the world at large, that challenge them at many levels in unique and interesting ways. Guest-lectures and workshops also add variety to our students’ everyday lives and give them chances to explore territories outside their comfort zone.

We recognize that effective learning does not always take place exclusively in the classroom. As a school, we wish to broaden learning horizons so that students can connect the outside world to their experiences in school. Each club in school tries to provide these enrichment activities in their own way. Clubs are perhaps one of the most anticipated programmes at DIS.
